Following on from the success of a recent meet & greet session held in Navan, the local Sinn Féin Cumann in Kells organised a similar session in their Office on Suffolk St. in the town.
Over 20 people from all over the Kells Electoral area attended along with TD for Meath West Peadar Tóibín, Kells Town Cllr Conor Ferguson, Meath West constituency organiser Cllr Caoimhe Ní Shluáin , and Sinn Féin Representative for the Kells electoral area Michael Gallagher.
Kells Cumann chairperson Ollie Curran opened an informal discussion, topics discussed included; Sinn Féin and the role we play in our local community; issues faced by young people in Ireland today; Sinn Féin and its republican tradition; and the need for greater social equality during times of recession.
During the final session Kells local area representative Michael Gallagher chaired an intense questions and answers debate on local issues and Sinn Féin’s plans to address them.
In his closing remarks Deputy Peadar Tóibín declared; Sinn Féin is a grass roots organistation, we unlike other parties are not tied to constituency borders, the issues we fight for are bigger than borders, like Irish unity, social justice, prosperity, fairness and equality for all.
Closing the event Cllr Conor Ferguson thanked all for attending and said he looked forward to working with Sinn Féin members from the Kells area as we look to increase our number of councillors during the next local election.
