Peadair Toibin anouces series of Public Meetings

In a novel approach to dealing with local constituency affairs,
PeadarTóibín, TD, has announced that he will host a number of public
meetings with residents in towns and villages across the Meath West area
over the next six months. The Sinn Féin politician has stated that these
new “residents’ forums” will offer constituents a real opportunity to
openly voice their concerns and opinions to their local TD.


In describing this initiative, he has stated that it aims to “address the
need for a spirit of direct public participation in politics at the present
moment in Ireland.” He went on to argue: “the rightful sense of politicians
being answerable to their voters is something that has been so blatantly
ignored by governments in recent years.”


Deputy Tóibínis encouraging local residents, along with community and
sporting groups, to avail of this opportunity to discuss with him the
issues that are affecting them. He stated: “I hope that, through
discussions between myself and local residents across the constituency, we
can begin to start a new phase of publically accountable politics in Meath
West.”

The first of these public forums will be held in the Unity Centre in
Dunloe, Windtown on Thursday, December 8th at 7. 30 pm. Information on
